Stop DWI Pushes For Beer Tax in Texas

MIDLAND, TX – A Midland group is pushing for a tax increase on beer.
Stop DUI and other advocates have worked on the issue of increasing the exise tax on beer.
The group says they are attempting to get the issue on the floor of the Texas House or Senate.
They say that per capita, Texas consumes more been than any other state in America and lead the nation in vehicle crashes, fueled by alcohol.
Group officials say if Texas lawmakers follow the recommendation and raise the beer tax rate by as little as 5 cents per drink, they could expect an additional $315 million in revenue.
