Have you ever been driving around and seen a police car and wish that you knew they were there or been aware of traffic congested areas, etc? Well recently Google developed a mobile application called Waze that is supposed to help navigate traffic. This app consists of benchmarks in which people can tag the location of parked police vehicles, accidents, traffic cameras, and traffic.
Just recently, this mobile app jumped to number 8 on Apples top charts. This app appeared to be a hit to the general public; however, a sheriff's office did not agree with it. They believed that after shootings in New York, it puts police in danger and interferes with their job. Some people say that the Sheriffs have no reason to ban it because it interferes with their first amendment.
It definitely will be interesting to follow up with this event. Some people believe it is an obstruction of justice while others believe it is not in real time. Moreover, it is safe to say that the law has not yet caught up to technology. Is this information not public information? What do you think?
