Electronic Access Interference
Chapter 33 of the Texas Penal Code defines computer related offenses.
“Electronic Access Interference”, as per § 33.022 of the Texas Penal Code, occurs when a person, other than a network provider or online service provider acting for a legitimate business purpose, commits an offense if the person intentionally interrupts or suspends access to a computer system or computer network without the effective consent of the owner.
An offense under this section is a third degree felony.
Punishment Range
Third Degree Felony
- Imprisonment in the institutional division for not more than 10 years or less than two years
- In addition to imprisonment, may receive a fine not to exceed $10,000
